From Alexanderplatz, which was the center of East Berlin, towards the Spree River, past the Mary's church and the TV tower (Fernsehturm) - three important monuments that represent three different historical periods of the city - after understanding the emergence of the city from the Nicolau neighborhood (Nikolai Viertel), visitors will also visit the palace of recently rebuilt city (Stadtschloss), the Dom (Berlin's cathedral), the Museum Island, the contemporary building and annexe of the Berlin Historical Museum. It's on the program too, to walk along the renowned av. Unter den Linden, visit the historic buildings from the 18th century and the memorial to the book burning at Bebel Platz. From here, you can reach the Gendarmenmarkt, the beautiful Baroque square where the Concert Hall (Konzerthaus) is located, one of the most prestigious venues for classical music in Berlin, or continue along Unter den Linden to the Gate of Brandenburg (Brandenburgertor).

Let's get to know the history of the German capital, how the city came about, and where it developed.
