The Pergamon Museum is part of the collection of museums on the Museum Island in Berlin. Designed to house the Altar frieze of the city of Pergamon, now called Bergama and located in Turkey, it houses three impressive collections of the National Museums in Berlin: the Collection of Classical Antiquities, the Museum of the Ancient Near East and the Museum of Islamic Art.
O edifício levou cerca de vinte anos para ser construído, de 1910 a 1930, e pode ser chamado de um museu de arquitetura, pois abriga partes de edifícios reconstruídos ou montados quase em seu tamanho original e transmitem a impressão de se estar no coração das antigas metrópoles. Estas coleções, inevitavelmente, deixam seus visitantes admirados e explicam alguns capítulos da história do desenvolvimento da arquitetura no mundo.
